On August 2nd, the Global Computing Consortium (GCC) officially launched its strategic plan for the open source community at the 2025 CCF China Open Source Conference (CCF ChinaOSC). The 2025 CCF China Open Source Conference was hosted by the China Computer Federation, co-organized by the CCF Open Source Technology Development Committee and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This conference brought together top experts and many leading figures in the open source field to explore the cutting-edge developments in key areas such as open source operating systems, open source chips, and open source large models, with cross-disciplinary exchanges stimulating the vitality of technological innovation.
The GCC's promotion of the strategic plan for the open source community will drive its branches to transform into communities, support the conduct of open source business in the form of working groups, and attract external mature communities to build an interconnected global industrial ecosystem. At the same time, it will upgrade the intellectual property management system and formulate supplementary rules to strengthen protection. It will also build a dedicated IT collaboration platform to support the efficient advancement of projects throughout the entire process. CTO of the GCC Secretariat, Miao Fuyou, stated that this strategic plan is in line with the internal demands of the industry, conforms to the rapid iteration trend of computing technology, accelerates the application of technology through the open source model, unites the industry consensus, strengthens the synergy between standards and open source achievements, and helps build an open and shared new computing industry ecosystem, injecting continuous momentum into the vision of "empowering the digital and intelligent society with new computing."
Guests attending the launch ceremony included: Professor Mei Hong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and advisor to the GCC Council; Professor Jin Hai, the president of the GCC and a professor, doctoral supervisor, and specially-appointed professor of the Yangtze River Scholars at Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Mr. Hu Xinwei, the chairperson of the openEuler Technical Committee of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.; Mr. Sun Yu, the executive director of the Intelligent Pharmacy Cross-Institute of China Pharmaceutical University and the secretary-general of the GCC HPC Industry Development Committee; Mr. Qian Binbin, the deputy director of the Research and Strategic Development Center of Nanhu Laboratory; Mr. Wo Yang, the council and ecosystem director of the Magic Community of Tianyi Cloud Technology Co., Ltd.; and Ms. Qi Shaomin, the sales director of Linaro China of Linaro Limited.
With the completion of the launch ceremony, the Global Computing Alliance will continue to promote the construction of the open-source ecosystem, enrich the open-source operation model, strengthen international cooperation, promote the social application of open source, and continuously thrive the open-source ecosystem.
After the meeting, CTO Miao Fuyou of the Global Computing Alliance Secretariat was interviewed on the spot by Dragon TV, Shanghai Education Television, and Oriental Finance Channel, elaborating in detail on the strategic layout of the Global Computing Alliance in the open-source field and its significant value in the development of the technical ecosystem and industry application.
