On the afternoon of November 14, 2024, the first meeting of the Standards Working Group of the GCC Confidential Computing Special Interest Group was successfully held in Beijing as expected. The meeting aimed to advance the standardization process of confidential computing technologies and promote the development of technologies, product ecosystems, and industry applications in this field.

At the meeting, participating expert representatives held in-depth discussions on two proposed projects: Technical Requirements and Evaluation Methods for Confidential Computing Platforms and Technical Requirements for Confidential Computing Remote Attestation Services. Expert representatives from more than 20 member organizations participating both online and offline actively shared their views and offered valuable opinions and suggestions on the project content, the construction of the standards system, and the future work of the working group. Qin Yu, Vice Chair of the Management Committee of the Special Interest Group, and Jin Yi’er, Vice Chair of the Expert Committee, also provided guidance on the two projects.
After full discussion and review, the participating expert representatives unanimously agreed to proceed with the two projects, Technical Requirements and Evaluation Methods for Confidential Computing Platforms and Technical Requirements for Confidential Computing Remote Attestation Services, and submit them to the management team of the Special Interest Group for approval. This decision marks a solid step forward in standardization work in the field of confidential computing and lays a solid foundation for subsequent technology R&D and application promotion.
In addition to the discussion on project initiation, the working group meeting also held in-depth discussions on the future work and operation of the working group. Participants put forward specific suggestions and expectations for follow-up work, including strengthening communication and collaboration among member organizations, building a confidential computing standards system, jointly promoting the standardization process of confidential computing technologies, and contributing to industry development and technology application.
Ge Xiaoyu, Chair of the Standards Working Group, and Wang Huili, Vice Chair of the Standards Working Group, summarized the meeting. They thanked all expert representatives for their active participation and contributions, and stated that they would carefully incorporate everyone’s opinions and suggestions, further improve the work plan, and ensure the smooth advancement and implementation of the two projects.
Standards are the foundation for the operation of the Confidential Computing Special Interest Group. The convening of this meeting not only clarified the direction for the standardization of confidential computing technologies, but also laid a solid foundation for the future development of the GCC Confidential Computing Special Interest Group.
