Speech by Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology

In his address, Xiong Jijun stated that cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong in science and technology innovation is continuously deepening, opening up broad prospects for in-depth collaboration in the open-source domain. He called on all parties to actively participate as co-builders of open-source communities, deepen integration as drivers of industrial upgrading, and foster openness as facilitators of international exchange. He expressed hope that all parties would take this event as an opportunity to deepen cooperation and jointly promote Hong Kong as a highland for open-source technology connecting the mainland with the world.

Speech by Dr. Ge Ming, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology, Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, HKSAR Government

In his address, Dr. Ge Ming noted that Hong Kong, backed by the motherland and connected to the world, boasts world-class universities and research institutions, a robust intellectual property protection regime, and a highly internationalized business environment. Hong Kong will leverage its unique advantages to play the distinctive roles of "super connector" and "super value creator," providing a solid platform for China to promote the global expansion of open-source technology and participate in global open-source governance.

Speech by Li Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of the OpenAtom Foundation: "Building a Global Open-Source Technology Application Ecosystem"

Li Bo introduced that the OpenAtom Foundation, as China's first open-source foundation, has 77 projects that have passed TOC review, of which 59 have entered the incubation period, covering areas such as AI, blockchain, and cloud-native technologies, and has nurtured star open-source projects including openEuler and OpenHarmony. The foundation will firmly support the development of Hong Kong's open-source ecosystem, strengthen open-source infrastructure through AtomGit, establish the openEuler Hong Kong User Group, coordinate campus programs and innovation competitions to cultivate local talent, assist Hong Kong in building an international innovation and technology center, and promote excellent open-source technologies to go global.

Open-Source Ecosystem Internationalization and openEuler Hong Kong Launch: openEuler Hong Kong User Group Officially Established

Xiong Wei, Vice Chairman of the OpenAtom Foundation TOC and Chairman of the OpenAtom openEuler Committee, and Huang Guangyang, CEO of LSCM, jointly presented the future development plans for the openEuler community and the Hong Kong User Group. It was noted that the openEuler community, having developed domestically, has accumulated three key strengths: technology, governance, and ecosystem. Hong Kong, as an international innovation and financial center, possesses leading professional services and international talent. The complementary strengths of both sides can create win-win outcomes in industrial transformation, enterprise growth, and talent attraction. Looking ahead, the openEuler Hong Kong User Group will improve its organizational operations, expand its core membership, and collaborate with local partners to accelerate the application of open-source OS and intelligent solutions, while deepening research cooperation and talent cultivation to advance community ecosystem development across multiple dimensions.
