As a flagship academic conference and exhibition for multimedia technology innovation and system applications, IEEE ICME 2026, the International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 5 to 9, 2026. The Low-Precision Large Language Model Efficient Computation Challenge, hosted by the Global Computing Consortium (GCC), has been listed as one of the Grand Challenges of the conference. GCC sincerely invites global innovation partners to take part in the challenge.

Against the backdrop of the rapid rise of generative AI, large language models and multimodal models are developing at high speed, and related technological research and innovation have become a major theme of the IEEE ICME 2026 Grand Challenges. In response to the computing power and energy efficiency bottlenecks faced by the industry in large model deployment, the GCC-hosted challenge will focus on applying low-precision data formats, such as HiF8, HiF4, and MXFP4, to the training and inference of large models in text-to-image and text model scenarios, and completing the challenge tasks through innovation in quantization algorithms, model architectures, and other areas.

GCC welcomes AI algorithm researchers, application and system developers, and all technical practitioners and dreamers committed to improving computing energy efficiency from around the world to participate in the challenge. Together, participants will help bridge the gap between theoretical quantization methods and practical deployment constraints, and explore innovative solutions for reproducible and engineering-oriented applications of efficient large model computation.
